Day out to Drayton Manor
From events to leisure, Drayton Manor pretty much encompasses everything to offer the perfect package! With the theme park and addition of the zoo it’s a perfect venue for adding an exciting activity to the delegate experience and often encourages a lot of creativity in teams – bringing out the big kid in all of us! Having the hotel on site means that delegates haven’t got far to go to rest their heads after a busy day and with great places to eat everything is all really under one roof!
Where possible its great for us to test the venues we put forward to our clients so last week I packed our bags and headed off to Drayton Manor for a leisure weekend to see what the hype was all about. After picking up two very excited children from school on a Friday afternoon we headed up negotiating the afternoon traffic chaos and arriving just in time for dinner. We were treated to a delicious meal where we all left with happy full tummies and afterwards let the children run off some steam outside in the play area before tucking ourselves up for the night. My family and I enjoyed a rare treat of tv in bed with a cuppa and a biscuit then everybody slept soundly in our comfy beds after watching ‘The Chase’ as requested by our children! The weather forecast for the following day was less than perfect; very annoying given the glorious weeks of summer sun we’d just experienced but we were pleasantly surprised to wake to a grey but dry morning. Filling our tummies once again with a big breakfast we headed off to the park where we saw the animals in the Zoo first, the children enjoyed the quiet wander around, a definite perk of staying overnight and being first ones into the park. We got a bit damp thanks to a short downpour (the only rain of the day in the end) but that didn’t deter us or the children who embraced getting soggy bottoms from the slide in the play area. Once the main park opened the excitement really ramped up, and although we’re not massive thrill seekers there was something for everyone and loads that catered for the young (and the less adventurous) with Thomas land being a firm favourite despite our eldest being 10! We had a really great day walking around watching others on crazy rides and trying out the tamer versions ourselves, most more than once! The park is a good size for families and perfect for a day out as you’ll manage to do the whole place at least once whilst keeping fed and hydrated at the many eateries on site.
All in all, the Carrs had a super day out, and I would openly recommend this to clients who are looking to extend their meeting or conference offering or maybe even hold a family fun day, thanks Drayton Manor!
