First Choice Conference & Events are proud to announce that the new Charity Partner for our 2020 Silver Anniversary year will be Winston’s Wish – the UK’s first childhood bereavement charity. Winston’s Wish have been supporting bereaved children since 1992 and celebrated their 25th Anniversary in 2017.

We’re so grateful that team FCCE have chosen to mark their special anniversary by supporting Winston’s Wish. We’ve come to know and trust their team over the last couple of years while using their services so it’s great to now have them on board to support us throughout 2020. Sadly we know that grief can destroy a child’s future, it’s only thanks to the support of businesses like First Choice Conference & Events that we can help to make sure that it doesn’t.

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, we have committed to supporting various charities each year including Genetic Disorder UK, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Sue Ryder, AT Society, Ataxia and AADC Trust. For this special anniversary year however, we wanted to choose one specific charity partner to support throughout the year.

After long deliberation, we settled on the fantastic charity Winston’s Wish. Being a family-oriented business, we all felt that support for childhood bereavement was a cause that was very important as it is a subject that has potentially touched all of us. We are able to have an even stronger connection with the charity as we are both based on the same street in Cheltenham, and the charity is also one of our clients. Our team have been supporting Winston’s Wish with sourcing venues, managing events and fund raising on a small scale over the last few years. Our connection actually goes back even further than this. My husband – and fellow director in the business – was a volunteer team leader with Winston’s Wish when they were just starting out back in the early 90s!
Winston’s Wish
Last year, the charity supported an estimated 17,340 children and young people after the death of a parent or sibling – that’s an increase of 18% on the previous year. The work that Winston’s Wish do is life-changing for the young people in the UK who suffer family bereavements and we are so honoured to be able to support such an important cause.
FCCE’s fundraising ventures
Throughout our 25th year we will be conjuring up ideas and lots of creative ways to raise money and awareness for this vital cause. To get us off to a good start, we would like to announce our Silver Anniversary Pledge. As a business, we will donate £25.00 to Winston’s Wish for every event we organise with 250 or more delegates. We estimate we can raise over £500.00 for the charity, which will fund a family drop-in session where a service practitioner will provide advice and support to families.
